This site displays some of the work of current and former members in the Hillsdale Country Carving Club.
The club was started around 1995 by Tom, Loren and Don. This we held our carving sessions at Evergreen Estates Mobile Home Park in Jonesville, MI. Word got around about the group the number of carvers increased. Needing more room for the summer months, (some of the carvers winter in Florida) Don Playford added a carving studio to a garage that was separate from his home.
We currently meet at Perenial Park, the Hillsdale County Senior Services Center at 320 W. Bacon on Wednesdays from 1:30 - 3:30 PM. We welcome all carvers and those interested in carving, you don’t need to be a senior!
In our Gallery of Carvings , we feature the works of our past and current members. You will see all kinds of carvings - animals, chains, musical spoons, fish, cowboys, native americans, religious, landscape reliefs, frames, walking sticks, guns, toys, people, cartoon characters, and more.
